이란 관영 매체들은 이날 국제원자력기구 사찰팀이 5시간동안 아라크 중수로를 사찰했다고 보도했습니다.
아라크 중수로는 완공되면 플루토늄을 생산하게 됩니다.
플루토늄과 고도로 농축된 우라늄은 핵무기 제조에 이용될 수 있습니다.
이란 외무부의 모하마드 알리 호세이니 대변인은 또 다른 유엔 핵사찰팀이 나탄츠 우라늄 농축시설의 사찰방법과 규모를 결정하기 위해 오는 8월 6일, 이란을 방문한다고 밝혔습니다. 이란은 핵문제를 해결하기 위한 협상의 일환으로 유엔 사찰팀의 이란 핵시설에 대한 사찰을 허용하는데 동의했습니다.
고든 브라운 영국 총리는 메릴랜드 주 캠프 데이비드에서 부시 미국 대통령과 정상회담을 마친 후에 이란의 핵계획에 대한 유엔의 제재가 작동되고 있다고 밝히고, 미국과 영국은 대이란 추가제재를 준비하고 있다고 말했습니다.

A team of inspectors from the United Nations nuclear agency has visited a heavy water reactor in Iran.
Iranian state media reports today's (Monday's) inspection of the Arak facility took five hours. The facility will produce plutonium once it is completed.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini says another U.N. team will visit Iran on August 6th to work out a framework for inspecting the Natanz uranium enrichment facility.
Iran has agreed to allow the inspections as part of a deal to resolve questions about its nuclear activities.
Plutonium and highly enriched uranium can be used to build nuclear weapons.
After his talks in Maryland with President George Bush, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said U.N. sanctions imposed on Iran for its nuclear program are working, and the U.S. and British are ready for the next step to toughen the sanctions.
