서방선진 6개국의 외교관들은 14일 이란의 핵계획에 대한 새로운 제재 결의안을 유엔 안전보장이사회에 제출할 예정입니다. 이란의 마흐무드 아마디네자드 대통령은 자국의 핵 계획에 대한 추가 제재조치 위협을 일축했습니다.
아마디네자드 대통령은 14일 서방선진국들은 스스로를 고립시키고 있을뿐이라면서 이란을 굴복시킬수 있으리라는 생각은 잘못되었다고 말했습니다. 이란의 알리 라리자니 핵협상 수석대표는 이란에 대한 공격은 군사대응으로 맞설 것이라고 경고했습니다.
한편, 유엔 안보리의 5개 상임이사국들과 독일은 13일 뉴욕 유엔 본부에서 대이란 제재 결의 초안을 집중 논의했습니다. 에미르 존스-페리 유엔주재 영국대사는 한두가지의 미결문제만이 남아있다고 말했습니다.

Diplomats from six world powers hope to present a new package of proposed sanctions against Iran to the U.N. Security Council today (Wednesday).
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has dismissed the threat of more sanctions over his country's nuclear program. (Speaking at a rally in central Iran today - Wednesday,) Mr. Ahmadinejad said world powers are only "isolating themselves" in trying to make Iran surrender.
Also today, the country's chief nuclear negotiator (Ali Larijani) said any attack on Iran would be met with a military response.
In other news, the Russian company (Atomstroiexport) building a nuclear power plant in Iran says "irretrievable" damage may be caused by Iran's late payments.
On Monday, Atomstroiexport accused Iran of failing to make scheduled payments, a charge Iran has denied.
The company said it is postponing the delivery of nuclear fuel to the Bushehr plant and that the September launch will be delayed.
Today, a Russian official (Russian Atomic Energy Chief Sergei Kiriyenko) said Iran appears to be losing interest in the project.
