알-말리키 총리는 10일, 바그다드에서 이라크의 안정화 방안을 논의하기 위해 열린 지역안보회의에 참석해 개막연설을 통해 이같이 경고하고 이라크의 인접국들과 국제사회가 이라크의 종파간 폭력사태를 종식시키도록 도와달라고 촉구했습니다. 알-말리키 총리는 또 이라크 국민들이 국제적으로 만연하는 테러리즘에 대한 대가를 치르고 있으며 이라크는 중동지역의 다른 나라들로 번질 위험이 있는 폭력충돌 사태의 최전선에 있다고 말했습니다.
이번 이라크 안정화 국제회의에는 이란, 시리아를 포함한 이라크의 모든 인접국들과 유엔 안전보장 이사회의 상임 이사국 다섯 나라들의 외교관들이 참석하고 있습니다.
한편, 회의장으로부터 몇 킬로미터 떨어진 곳에서 차량폭탄 공격이 벌어져 적어도 18명이 살해되고 20명이 부상했습니다.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has warned that the mounting terrorism and sectarian violence plaguing Iraq could spread across the Middle East.
Mr. Maliki made his remarks today (Saturday) in his opening statement at a landmark regional security conference in Baghdad. The one-day conference included delegates from all five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council (The United States, Britain, France, China and Russia), along with Iraq's neighbors, including Iran and Syria.
The prime minister said the people of Iraq are paying the price for the global epidemic of terrorism, and his nation is at the front-line of the confrontation.
Mr. Maliki called on countries in the region and the international community for support, and to help end the violence in Iraq, but he cautioned against foreign interference with his country's internal affairs.
Meanwhile, two blasts were heard near the meeting venue, slightly damaging the building. A few kilometers away (in Baghdad's Shi'ite district of Sadr City) a car bomb killed at least 18 people and wounded 20 others.
