이란의 마누쉐르 모타키 외무장관은 이란이 유엔 안전보장이사회의 요구대로 우라늄 농축활동을 중단하는 일은 없을 것이라고 말했습니다.
모타키 외무장관은 27일 수도 테헤란에서 우라늄 농축활동을 중단하라는 요구는 불합리한 것이라며, 이란은 절대 이에 순응하지 않을 것이라고 말했습니다.
모타키 장관은 이란은 자체 핵 계획을 둘러싼 대립을 해결하기 위해 대화를 가질 준비가 돼 있다고 말했으나 그같은 회담은 아무런 전제 조건 없이 이뤄져야 한다고 말했습니다.
한편, 영국의 토니 블레어 총리는 런던에서 이란은 민감한 핵활동 중단을 거부함으로써 “크게 잘못된 계산 (making a big miscalculation)”을 하고 있다고 말했습니다. 블레어 총리는 이란의 최근 발언은 이란이 국제사회의 요구를 무시하려는 의지를 나타내고 있다며 매우 우려된다고 덧붙였으며 영국 외무부의 고위 관리는 유엔 안전보장이사회 5개 상임이사국과 독일이 이란 핵 계획에 관한 새 안보리 결의안 초안 작성작업에 들어갔다고 말했습니다.
미국과 영국, 프랑스, 러시아, 중국, 그리고 독일 대표들은 26일 영국 런던에서 만나 새 안보리 결의안에 관해 논의했습니다.

Iran's foreign minister says his country will never suspend uranium enrichment as demanded by the United Nations Security Council.
Speaking at a gathering in Tehran today (Tuesday), Manouchehr Mottaki said demands to halt enriching uranium were "illegitimate" and Iran will never comply.
However, he said Iran is prepared for talks to resolve the standoff concerning its nuclear program, but those talks should be held without preconditions.
In London, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said Iran is, in his words, "making a big miscalculation" in its refusal to halt sensitive nuclear work. Mr. Blair said the comments from Iran are "very worrying" because they are indicating they want to defy the international community.
Meanwhile, a senior British official (from Foreign Office) said six world powers have started drafting a new U.N. Security Council resolution on Iran's nuclear program.
Representatives from Germany and the Security Council's five permanent members -- the United States, Britain,France, Russia and China -- met in London Monday to discuss the issue
The United States says it is seeking "incremental" steps to tighten sanctions and further pressure Iran.
Iran ignored a Security Council deadline last week (February 21st) to suspend uranium enrichment or face new sanctions, on top of those imposed in December.
