미국의 초콜릿 제조업체인 허쉬 사가 중국에서 초콜릿을 생산하기 위해 한국의 롯데제과와 전략적 제휴를 맺었습니다.
허쉬 사는 중국 상하이 인근 진샨 시의 한 공장에서 오는 8월부터 초콜릿이 생산될 것이라고 29일 발표했습니다.
롯데제과와 허쉬 사는 중국에서 급속한 경제적 성장에 발맞춰 초콜릿에 대한 기호가 신속하게 증가할 것으로 예상된다고 밝혔습니다. 허쉬 사는 오는 2010년까지 중국 초콜릿 시장에서 시장 점유율 2위를 차지할 수 있기를 기대한다고 말했습니다.
한편, 롯데제과는 이번 전략적 제휴를 통해, 미국 시장에서 제품을 판매하는데 허쉬 사의 유통망을 이용할 계획입니다.

The U.S. chocolate maker Hershey is teaming up with South Korea's Lotte Confectionary company to produce chocolate in China.
The companies announced today (Monday) that chocolate candies will begin rolling out of a factory in the Chinese city of Jinshan, near Shanghai, in August.
Lotte and Hershey say China's taste for chocolate is expected to grow quickly, in line with the country's sizzling economic growth. Hershey says it hopes to be number two (behind Mars, Inc.) in the Chinese chocolate market by 2010.
Lotte will hold a 51 percent stake in the 80-million dollar joint venture.
As part of the deal, the South Korean company will take advantage of Hershey's distribution channels in the U.S. to sell its products. In turn, Lotte will help Hershey distribute its candy in South Korea and Japan.
