프랑스 파리에 본부를 둔 세계신문협회는 연합뉴스가 한국내 언론 독점권을 회복하는 것은 세계인권선언 (Universal Declaration of Human Rights)에 위배되는 일이라고 주장했습니다. 이는 또 현대 민주주의와 자유시장 체재에서 용납될 수 없는 처사라고 협회는 말했습니다.

A world newspaper group is protesting a proposal that could close South Korea to information from foreign news agencies.
In a letter to South Korean authorities, the World Association of Newspapers President Gavin O'Reilly urged Seoul to continue allowing the free flow of information.
The letter was in response to an initiative by the state-owned Yonhap news agency to regain its monopoly control on information in South Korea.
The Paris-based newspaper organization said reestablishing the media monopoly would be a breach of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
It said such a move would be unacceptable in a modern democracy and a free market. The World Association of Newspapers said competition among news agencies benefits both media companies and the public.
