싱 수상의 24일 성명은, 인도 고위 정보 관리가 파키스탄 책임론에서 한 걸음 물러선 자세를 보인지 이틀만에 나온 것입니다.
국가안보자문위원인 M. K. 나라야난 씨는 앞서 22일 인도 정부가 유효한 증거를 확보했지만, 결정적인 것은 못된다고 말했습니다.
이에 야당인 바라티야 자나타 당은 이 사건과 관련해서 인도 정부의 입장에 일관성이 없다고 비난했었습니다.
한편 파키스탄 정부는 200명의 목숨을 앗아간 7월11일 폭탄 공격과의 연관성을 부인하고 있습니다.
파키스탄 정부는 인도가 아무런 증거도 확보하지 않았으며, 파키스탄에 대한 혐의 주장은 허위 사실 유포라고 대응했습니다. 한편 인도 정부는 파키스탄과의 대화 과정에서 증거를 공개하겠다고 밝힌 바 있습니다.

India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh says his government has credible evidence proving Pakistan's involvement in the July train bombings in Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay).
Mr. Singh's statement Tuesday comes after India's top security official appeared to backtrack on assertions that Pakistan's spy agency, Inter-Services Intelligence, was responsible for the attacks.
National Security Adviser M.K. Narayanan on Sunday said the evidence New Delhi has is good, but would not clinch the case. His statement prompted the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party to accuse the government of wavering on the issue.
Pakistan has repeatedly denied involvement in the July 11th attacks that killed some 200 people.
Pakistan says India has no evidence and that the accusation is propaganda. But India has said it will present the evidence during talks with Pakistan.
