파우드 시니오라 레바논 총리는 에후드 올메르트 이스라엘 총리로부터 평화협상을 제안받은 바 없다고 말했습니다. 레바논 총리실은 3일 발표한 성명에서 이스라엘의 평화협상 제안은 무엇이든 제안이 이뤄지기도 전에 거부할 것이라고 말했습니다.
올메르트 이스라엘 총리는 3일 중재자를 통해 시니오라 총리에게 몇 차례 두 나라 간 평화적 관계를 위한 회담을 제안했었다고 밝혔습니다.
올메르트 총리는 시니오라 총리와 마주 앉아 레바논 내 일부에서 분출되고 있는 증오심을 종식하는 것은 자연스런 일이라고 말했습니다.
그러나 레바논 총리실은 이스라엘은 최근 헤즈볼라 무장세력과의 전투 과정에서 점령한 레바논 지역과 분쟁을 빚고 있는 셰바 팜스 지역에서 철수해야 한다고 말했습니다.

Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora denies receiving an invitation from Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert for peace talks.
Mr. Siniora's office released a statement Sunday saying any Israeli offers of peace negotiations would be rejected even before they are made.
Israel's prime minister said earlier Sunday he made several appeals to Mr. Siniora through intermediaries for talks on establishing peaceful relations.
Mr. Olmert says it would be natural to sit down with Mr. Siniora, shake hands and end what the Israeli leader calls the hatred coming from parts of Lebanon.
But, the Lebanese prime minister's office says Israel must withdraw from Lebanese territory occupied during the recent conflict with Hezbollah and pull out of the disputed Shebaa Farms region.
The statement also demands that Israel end its blockade of Lebanon, calling it a violation of the U.N.-mediated ceasefire resolution.
