차콘 장관은 25일 기자회견에서 미 외교관 수하물에 대한 압수수색은 외교협약을 위반하는 것이라고 미국 정부가 항의를 제기한 것과 관련해 이같이 말했습니다.
베네수엘라 주재 미국 대사관은 미국 외교관들이 23일, 수도 카라카스 공항에서 대사관으로 가는 도중에 베네수엘라군 병력으로부터 수하물을 불법수색당했다고 말했습니다.

Venezuela has defended its decision to search and seize luggage belonging to U.S. diplomats.
At a news conference Friday, Justice Minister Jesse Chacon said troops did not violate diplomatic conventions. The minister also accused the United States of smuggling military equipment into the country.
The United States has criticized the search, calling it a violation of diplomatic protocol. The U.S. Embassy said the baggage was illegally searched Thursday while on its way from the capital's airport to the embassy.
Venezuelan officials countered those charges by claiming that only four of the 16 seized packages could be considered diplomatic baggage. Officials say some of the packages contained food goods.
Relations between the U.S. and Venezuela have become increasingly tense in recent months.
