중국은 지난달 146억 달러의 무역흑자로 또다시 월간 최대 흑자를 기록했습니다. 중국관세청은 10일 이같은 규모는 지난해 같은 달에 비해 40%가 늘어난 것이며, 한 달 전의 145억 달러 무역흑자 기록도 갱신한 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
중국의 늘어나는 무역흑자는 교역상대국들과 긴장관계를 빚고 있습니다. 미국과 유럽연합, 일본 등은 그동안 줄곧 중국 정부에 대해 수출을 줄이고 중국상품의 가격을 좀더 높일 수 있도록 하기 위해 위안화를 평가절상할 것을 요구해 왔습니다. 중국 정부 관리들은 흑자를 줄이기 위해 환율에만 초점을 맞추는 것은 잘못이라고 주장하고 있습니다.
중국은 특히 미국과 긴장이 높은 상태로 지난해 중국의 대미흑자는 2천20억 달러에 달했습니다.

China's trade surplus has hit a new record monthly high, reaching 14-point-six billion dollars. China's Customs Agency said today (Thursday) the figure is a more than 40-percent increase from the same month last year.
It topped the previous record, set just last month, of 14-point-five billion dollars. China's soaring trade surpluses are straining relations with its top trading partners. The United States, the European Union and Japan have repeatedly called on Beijing to raise the value of its currency, the yuan, in order to restrain exports and make Chinese goods more expensive.
Tensions are especially high with Washington. China's trade surplus with the U.S. hit 202-billion dollars in 2005. Chinese officials have argued against focusing only on exchange rates as a means of reducing the surplus.
