알 카에다 테러조직의 제 2인자인 아이만 알-자와히리는 27일, 이스라엘이 레바논과 팔레스타인에서 벌이고 있는 공격에 보복할 것임을 다짐했습니다.
아이만 알-자와히리는 이날 알-자지라 아랍어 텔레비전방송에서 방송된 녹음 테이프를 통해 레바논과 가자지구에서 이스라엘 군의 포격으로 “형제들의 재산이 불타고” 있는 상황에 테러조직들은 침묵하지 않을 것이라고 경고했습니다.
자와히리는 이스라엘과 십자군연합에 대항해 벌이고 있는 세계적인 성전에 회교도들이 궐기해 순교자가 되라고 촉구했습니다. 십자군연합은 미국 등 이스라엘의 서방 지원국들을 지칭하는 것이 분명합니다.
자와히리는 범죄에 가담하는 자들은 누구를 막론하고 그 댓가를 치루게 될 것이라고 경고했습니다.

Al-Qaida's number two leader has vowed revenge for Israel's offensives in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
In a taped message broadcast by al-Jazeera Arabic television today (Thursday), Ayman al-Zawahiri said the terrorist network will not remain silent while Israeli bombardments, in his words, "burn our brothers."
He called on Muslims to rise up and become martyrs in a worldwide Jihad against Israel and what he called the crusader coalition. Al-Qaida uses the word "crusader" to refer to Israel's western supporters including the United States.
He said every participant in the crime will pay the price.
Zawahiri, an Egyptian, called Arab nations impotent and treacherous, referring to their muted response to Israel's military campaigns.
