China says it has evacuated more than a quarter of a million people from coastal areas of Fujian province as tropical storm Bilis blows ashore.
China's official Xinhua news agency says ships have been ordered back to port, flights are canceled in the provincial capital, Fuzhou, and people have been warned of possible landslides and flooding.
The storm weakened from typhoon strength after battering the Philippines and Taiwan in recent days. A Fujian observatory forecasts moderate to heavy rain for the next three days.
Bilis left at least 14 people dead and seven missing in the Philippines. Disaster officials there say more than 50-thousand people have been affected by the storm.
