원자바오 중국 총리의 아프리카 순방은 주로 중국과 아프리카의 경제 유대관계를 강화하기 위한 것입니다.
이에 앞서 지난 20일 원자바오 총리는 앙골라를 방문, 27년간의 내전으로 피폐된 앙골라의 복구를 지원하기 위한 협정들에 서명했습니다. 앙골라는 이미 앙골라에서 원유를 도입하는 댓가로 수십억 달러의 차관을 제공한 바 있습니다.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrives in South Africa today (Wednesday) on the fifth leg of his seven-nation African tour.
Mr. Wen is due to hold two days of talks with South African President Thabo Mbeki and other political and business leaders.
The premier's tour is aimed mainly at strengthening Beijing's economic ties on the African continent.
On Tuesday, Mr. Wen visited Angola, where Chinese officials signed agreements to further help Angola rebuild from 27 years of civil war. China has already provided Angola with a multi-billion dollar loan in return for access to Angola's oil.
Critics have accused China of exploiting Africa for its natural resources, but Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos defended Beijing, saying China's actions are mutually beneficial.
