한편 북부 산시성 신진 탄광에서는 구조대가 지난 18일 침수 사고로 갱도안에 갇힌 57명의 광부들을 구출하기 위한 노력을 계속 펼치고 있습니다. 갱도안에 갇힌 광부들의 생사 여부는 아직 확인되지 않고 있는가운데 신진 탄광의 관리 9명이 실종자수를 거짓 보고한 혐의로 구금됐습니다. 탄광 경영진들은 당초 실종자수를 5명으로 축소 보고한 혐의를 받고 있습니다.

A gas explosion at a coal mine in central China has killed eight miners and trapped an unknown number of others as rescuers continue efforts to reach 57 trapped in another mine.
China's official Xinhua news agency reports the blast occurred Monday in Henan province. It says the death toll could be higher and it is not clear how many are trapped, because the mine owner and other supervisors fled after the accident.
Meanwhile, rescuers in northern China's Shanxi province are still working to free the 57 miners trapped underground by floodwaters since Thursday.
There has been no reported contact with the trapped miners.
Nine managers of the Xinjing coal mine were detained after they initially claimed that only five miners were missing. The head of the mine remains at large.
About 100 miners managed to escape the flood.
