말레이시아정부는 국가의 첫 우주인이 될 경쟁에 여성 한명을 포함 네명의 후보자를 지명했습니다. 나지브 라자크 부총리는,14일 기자들에게 세명의 후보들을 소개하면서 이들은 신체적, 정신적 능력때문에 선발됐다고 말했습니다.
한명의 여성과 세명의 남성의 이들 후보는 의사, 엔지니어 , 치과 의사, 그리고 항공기 조종사들입니다. 관리들은 최소한 900명의 후보들 중에서 엄격한 적성 테스트를 거쳐 선발됐다고 말했습니다. 이들 네명은 러시아와의 합의에 따라 2주동안 모스코바로 보내져 추가 훈련을 받게됩니다.
이중 두명은 러시아 우주국에서 18개월을 훈련을 받습니다. 최종 선발된 한명은 내년 러시아 로케트편으로 국제우주정거장으로 비행할 예정입니다.

Malaysia has named four candidates - including one woman - vying to become the country's first astronaut. Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak introduced the candidates to reporters today (Tuesday), saying they had been chosen for their physical and mental abilities.
The woman and three men include a doctor, an engineer, a dentist and an airline pilot. Officials say they were chosen from a field of at least 900 candidates after rigorous physical and psychological testing. As part of an agreement with Russia, the four will be sent to Moscow for two weeks of additional testing.
Two will be selected to undergo 18 months of training with the Russian space agency. One will fly to the International Space Station aboard a Russian rocket next year.
