Health officials in Nigeria and Poland have reported new outbreaks of bird flu.
In Nigeria, authorities said Saturday a deadly strain of bird flu has been detected for the first time in the southwestern state of Ogun.
The virus was found at a single farm in that state. Health experts fear the disease could spread from Ogun to nearby Lagos, home to more than 13 million people.
In Poland officials say they have confirmed an outbreak of the H5 bird flu virus, but they will have to do further testing to see if it is the especially lethal H5N1 strain. Poland's chief veterinary officer told reporters the infected swan was found dead in a northwestern town (Swinoujscie) bordering Germany.
