샤론 총리는 기관젤제 수술을 받은 뒤 중환자실에서 회복중이라고 예루살렘 하다사 병원 담당의사들이 말했습니다. 담당의사들은 샤론 총리가 수술직전에 새로 뇌단층 촬영검사를 받은 결과 이전과 아무런 변화가 없다고 밝혔습니다.
의사들은 지난 주에, 호흡보조관이 너무 오래 연결돼 있으면 총리에게 손상을 일으키게 될 것을 우려해 기관절제 수술이 필요하다고 말했습니다.

Israeli doctors say Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has undergone a successful tracheotomy, to help wean him off a respirator that has kept him alive since he suffered a massive stroke 11 days ago.
Doctors at Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem said Mr. Sharon was returned to an intensive care unit after the surgery late Sunday. The hospital also said a new brain scan taken before the operation showed no changes since tests performed last week.
Doctors said last week that Mr. Sharon might need the tracheotomy because the respirator tube in his throat could cause damage if left in place too long.
