세계 보건 기구WHO는 전염병 증세를 조기 판별하기위해, 조류독감 검사를 가속화하라고 아시아 각국 정부에 촉구했습니다.
WHO의 오미 시게루 서태평양 지역 사무국장은 12일 도쿄 에서, 국제사회는 전염병의 출현에 대해 가능한 모든 수단과 방법을 동원해 즉각적으로 대응해야 한다고 말했습니다.
일본 도쿄에서는 12일부터 이틀 일정으로, 20여개국 정부 관리들과 보건기구 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 조류독감에 대처하기 위한 회의가 열리고 있습니다.
세계보건기구 WHO의 한 고문은 조류독감 발병사례를 좀 더 빨리 WHO에 보고해야 한다고 회의 참석자들에게 말했습니다.

The World Health Organization is urging Asian governments to speed up testing for bird flu, to help identify early signs of a pandemic.
The WHO's regional director for the Western Pacific (Shigeru Omi) says the international community must respond instantly to the emergence of a pandemic with all the weapons at its disposal. He spoke today (Thursday) at the start of a two-day conference in Tokyo, attended by officials from more than 20 countries and health organizations.
A WHO consultant told the gathering local authorities should be quicker to report bird flu outbreaks to the world health body.
