한국에서 민주노총 소속 근로자 수만 명이 비정규직 법안 입법에 항의해 전국적인 파업에 들어갔습니다.
한국 민주노총은 1일, 비정규직 근로자들의 근무여건을 개선하기 위해 6만여명이 파업에 동참하고 있다고 발표했습니다.
그러나 한국정부는 이번 파업은 아무런 법적 근거가 없기 때문에 불법이라고 선언했습니다.
또한 1일, 한국정부의 쌀 시장 개방 움직임에 항의하기 위해 3천5백명의 농민들이 서울에서 별도의 시위을 벌였습니다.
2주전에 한국국회에서 승인된 쌀 시장 개방안은 오는 2014년까지 수입쌀의 비율을 한국내 쌀 소비량의 8퍼센트까지 점차적으로 늘리는 것을 골자로 하고 있습니다.

Tens of thousands of South Korean union workers have defied a government ban and launched a nationwide strike to try to improve conditions for temporary workers.
The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, one of the country's umbrella labor groups, said 60-thousand of its workers went on strike today (Thursday). But the South Korean Labor Ministry has put the numbers of participants at around 15-thousand.
The government has declared the strike illegal because it says the action has nothing to do with legitimate grounds for launching industrial action.
Also today, at least 35-hundred farmers are holding a separate rally in Seoul to protest the government's move to open the country's rice market to foreign competition.
The rice bill, approved two weeks ago, will gradually double the country's rice import quota to eight percent of its domestic consumption by 2014.
