유럽 중앙은행, 5년만에 처음으로 기준 금리 인상 (영문기사 첨부)

유럽중앙은행은 1일 기준금리를 2%에서 2.25%로 0.25% 포인트 인상한다고 발표했습니다. 유럽중앙은행은 두 주일전부터 금리 인상을 예고해 왔습니다.

유럽은행 관리들은 이번 금리인상이 인플레를 진정시키기 위한 것이며 금리 인상이 유러존의 경제성장을 저해하지는 않을 것이라고 말했습니다.

Officials today (Thursday) raised the benchmark rate from two percent to two-point-two-five percent. The bank had signaled the move two weeks ago.

Bank officials said the increase would help keep inflation low after years of cheap credit helped fuel EU economic growth.
