유엔의 세계식량계획은 북한의 명령에 따라 11월말까지 북한내19개소의 양곡 가공시설을 폐쇄한다고 발표했습니다.
세계식량계획의 제임스 모리스 국장은 25일, 동료들이 그 같은 폐쇄는 많은 북한인들, 특히 여성과 어린이들을 위험에 빠뜨릴 것으로 믿고 있다고 말했습니다.
2주전 유엔 식량농업기구는 북한의 전반적인 음식섭취가 국제적인 기준에 계속 미달할 것이라고 전망하는 보고서를 발표했습니다. 평양 관리들은 국내 식량생산의 개선과 기타 다른 이유등으로 더 이상 유엔의 식량원조를 원치 않는다고 발표했었습니다.
북한은 그 대신 기간시설 건설 지원등과 같은 개발 원조를 바란다고 밝혔습니다.

The United Nations' World Food Program says it will close its 19 food-processing plants in North Korea by the end of November to comply with Pyongyang's orders.
(James Morris) The director of the U.N. agency reiterated (today / Tuesday) his colleagues' belief that the closures will endanger many North Koreans, especially women and children.
Two weeks ago, the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization issued a report predicting that North Korea's overall food consumption will continue to fall short of international standards.
Officials in Pyongyang have said they no longer want U.N. food aid because domestic food production has improved, and for other reasons. The North says it wants development aid instead, such as help with its infrastructure.
