Hundreds of people in India and Bangladesh are missing following a powerful storm in the Bay of Bengal that battered coastal districts of both nations.
Officials in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh say at least 50 people were killed -- mostly in house collapses or electrocuted by downed power lines.
They say thousands of people were left homeless after high winds and heavy rain over the past two days triggered flooding in coastal regions.
One senior state official (Praveen Prakash) is quoted (by Reuters news agency) as saying over one-thousand people are missing in three districts.
In Bangladesh, authorities say several hundred fishermen are missing after their trawlers were swept away. They say waves swamped many coastal villages, forcing thousands of people to seek higher ground.
