최근 실시된 일본 중의원 선거의 당선자들의 대부분은 일본 평화헌법의 개정을 선호하고 있는 것으로 여론조사에서 밝혀졌습니다.
14일 발표된 마이니치 신문 여론조사에 따르면 중의원의 80퍼센트에 달하는 402명의 의원들은 헌법이 개정돼야 한다고 말했습니다. 헌법 개정에 반대한다고 응답한 사람은 36명에 불과했습니다.
이 여론조사는 고이즈미 준이치로 총리의 자민당이 중의원선거에서 압도적 승리를 거둔 지 며칠 만에 실시됐습니다.
고이즈미 총리는 국제분규를 해결하기 위한 무력사용을 금지하고 일본의 군사력을 자위용으로만 국한하고 있는 헌법 제 9조의 개정을 촉구하고 있습니다.
일본 평화헌법은 2차대전 종전 후 미 점령군에 의해 제정됐으며 군사력 사용에 관한 이 조항은 1947년 이후 변하지 않았습니다.

A recent poll in Tokyo shows that the majority of newly elected members of Japan's Lower House of Parliament are in favor of revising the country's pacifist Constitution.
In a survey released today (Wednesday) by the Mainichi Newspaper, 402, or 80 percent of the new lower house members said the Constitution should be altered. Only 36 members were opposed.
The poll was released just days after Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's Liberal Democratic Party won a landslide victory in parliamentary elections.
Mr. Koizumi has called for revisions of Article Nine of the constitution, which bars the use of military force in settling international disputes, and allows Japan a military force for self defense only.
The constitution drafted by U.S. occupation forces at the end of World War Two has been unchanged since 1947.
