지난 5월 부쉬 미국 대통령이 그루지아 수도 트빌리씨에서 연설할 당시 수류탄을 던진 한 남성은 당시 부쉬 대통령과 여러 인사들이 서 있던 단상을 공격하려 했었다고 자백했습니다.
그루지아 관리들이 공개한 비디오 테이프에서 블라디미르 아루투니안 이라는 남성은 방탄 유리로 막혀있는 단상에 서있던 부쉬 대통령과 미카일 사카쉬빌리 그루지아 대통령을 향해 수류탄을 던졌다고 말했습니다.
두 대통령은 자유의 광장에서 벌어진 대규모 군중대회에서 연설을 하고 있었으며 수류탄은 방탄 포디움으로부터 약 30미터 떨어진 곳에 떨어졌습니다. 5월 10일 발생한 그 사건에서 수류탄은 터지지 않았으며 다친 사람도 없었습니다.
그루지아 사법당국은 지난 20일, 자신을 체포하려던 경찰관과의 총격전에서 경찰을 살해한 혐의로 아루투니안을 입건했습니다.

A man who has confessed to hurling a grenade at President Bush during his May visit to Georgia's capital, Tbilisi, says he intended the shrapnel to hit the area where the president and others were standing.
In a video released by Georgian officials today (Saturday), Vladimir Arutyunian says he was trying to toss a grenade over the bulletproof glass protecting Mr. Bush and Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili.
The two leaders were addressing a massive rally in Tbilisi's Freedom Square when a grenade landed about 30 meters away from the podium surrounded by bulletproof glass. The grenade failed to explode, and no one was injured in the May 10th incident.
Georgian authorities have charged Mr. Arutyunian with premeditated murder for the killing of a security officer Wednesday during a gunfight as police moved in to capture him.
