남북 경제협력추진위원회의 북측 대표단이 현지시간 9일 서울에 도착했습니다.
최영건 북한 건설건재공업성 부상이 이끄는 북측 대표단은 12일까지 체류할 예정입니다. 양측은 무엇보다도 요새화돼 있는 분계선을 넘어 수송로를 개통하는 문제를 논의할 계획입니다.
굶주리는 북한인들을 위한 쌀 50만 톤 원조 요구도 안건에 포함될 것으로 보입니다. 남북 간의 마지막 경제협력 회담은 작년 6월에 열렸습니다.
남북한 간의 접촉은 남측이 베트남으로부터 대규모의 탈북자들을 받아들여 북측이 분노를 표시하며 동결됐다가 10개월만인 지난 5월 재개됐습니다.

North Korean officials have arrived in Seoul to discuss economic issues with their South Korean counterparts.
Associated Press reports the North's delegation, headed by the vice-minister of Construction and Building Materials Industries (Choe Yong Gon), will be in Seoul through Tuesday. Among other things, the two sides will discuss opening transport links across their heavily fortified border.
The North's request for 500-thousand tons of rice aid to feed its impoverished population is also expected to be on the agenda. The last economic talks were held in June of last year.
Contacts between the two Koreas resumed in May following a 10-month freeze after the North was angered by mass defections of its citizens through Vietnam to the South.
