러시아 우주국은 세계최초의 태양열사용 우주선 발사가 추진 로켓트의 작동고장으로 궤도에 도달하는 데 실패했다고 밝혔습니다.
그러나 러시아와 합작하고 있는 미국측은 보다 신중한 자세를 보였습니다.
미국 과학자들은 발사에 문제가 있었다는 점은 인정했지만 ‘코스모스 1호’우주선으로 부터 신호를 탐지한 것같다고 말했습니다.
코스모스 1호는 21일 바렌츠 해에 있는 러시아 잠수함에서 발사됐습니다.
이 우주선은 돛단배가 바람을 이용하는 것처럼 돛을 펼쳐 태양 광자의 힘으로 우주선을 초고속으로 운행하도록 설계됐습니다.

Russia's space agency says the launch of the world's first solar-powered spacecraft has failed to reach orbit because of a booster failure.
But Russia's U.S. partner in the attempt is more cautious. American scientists are acknowledging a problem with the launch. But they say they may have detected weak signals from the Cosmos One spacecraft.
They say the signals are encouraging but not conclusive evidence that Cosmos One is working in orbit.
The Cosmos One was launched Tuesday from a Russian submarine in the Barents sea.
It is built to deploy sails that use photons from the sun to push the spacecraft forward at super-high speed -- much like a sailboat catching the wind.
