이란 내무부는 알리 아크바르 하세미 라프산자니 전 대통령과 마흐무드 아마디네자드 테헤란 시장의 결선투표가 오는 24일에 실시된다고 발표했습니다.
내무부 관리들은 17일에 실시된 대통령선거의 1차 개표결과 라프산자니 후보는 21%, 아마디네자드 후보는 19%의 득표를 했다고 밝혔습니다.
이번 선거에서 최다득표를 한 라프산자니 전 대통령은 그가 당선되면 서방과의 관계 개선을 약속해온 온건한 회교 성직자 출신입니다.
아마디네자드 테헤란 시장은 이란의 보수파 지도자들과 긴밀한 유대관계를 갖고 있습니다.
이란의 최고 지도자 아야톨라 알리-하메네이는 투표율이 69%로 잠정 추계된 이번 선거 결과를 치하했습니다.
하메네이는 이같이 높은 투표율은 수십명의 후보들의 출마를 거부했기 때문에 이번 선거는 불공정한 것이었다는 부쉬 미국 대통령의 비난을 잠재웠다고 말했습니다.

Iran's Interior Ministry says former President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and Tehran Mayor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will compete for the presidency in a runoff election on Friday.
Interior Ministry officials say a preliminary count from yesterday's (Friday's) balloting shows Mr. Rafsanjani won 21 percent of the vote, and Mr. Ahmadinejad received 19 percent.
But reformist cleric Mehdi Karroubi disputed the results showing him in third place, saying the vote was rigged.
Meantime, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei praised the vote, which election officials say drew an estimated 69 percent of Iran's eligible voters.
He said the high turnout repudiated criticism from President Bush, who had said the poll would be unfair because dozens of candidates were barred from competing.
