Aid agencies and doctors returning from remote areas of Burma's cyclone-struck Irrawaddy Delta say they have seen no signs of starvation or widespread outbreaks of disease.

Instead, they say the Burmese people have shown their resilience and ability to cope with the aftermath of a deadly natural disaster.

Aid agencies and experts say convoys of trucks filled with drinking water, clothing, food and construction materials that were organized by monks and private citizens helped get relief to victims of Cyclone Nargis.

Cyclone Nargis pounded Burma's agricultural belt on May second and third, leaving more than 130-thousand dead or missing.

Burma's ruling military government was criticized for not allowing foreign aid workers and relief supplies into the country after the cyclone hit.
