Russian Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov says organized crime groups have become so entrenched in the customs system that they "feel at home" at customs checkpoints.

Ustinov was speaking today (Monday) to representatives of law enforcement agencies in Moscow. He criticized their performance in the fight against organized crime, saying they had yet to achieve concrete results.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called for stronger anti-corruption efforts in his annual state of the nation address last week. Since then, the Kremlin has ordered the dismissal of senior officials from several government agencies after they were suspected of corruption by investigators.
