Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Iran is ready to share nuclear technology with other Islamic countries.

His comments were reported today (Thursday) by the Iranian news agency, which characterized the presidential offer as one of peaceful technology.

The United States accuses Tehran of secret efforts to develop nuclear weapons, and along with the European Union, is seeking to have the matter referred to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions. Tehran insists its ongoing uranium conversion work is aimed at generating electricity.

The 35-member board of the International Atomic Energy Agency meets next week in Vienna, where it could vote to refer U.S. and European complaints about Iran to the security council.

However, the Iranian president has said he will offer new proposals to resolve the dispute on Saturday, when he addresses the U.N. summit in New York.
