네그로폰테 부장관은 현재로선 지난 달 발생한 뭄바이 테러를 철저히 조사하고 테러범들을 처벌하는 데에 집중하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
네그로폰테 부장관은 앞서 11일 파키스탄 이슬라마바드를 방문해 파키스탄 고위 지도부와 만났습니다. 인도는 뭄바이 테러가 파키스탄의 무장단체인 라쉬카르-이-타이바의 소행이라고 주장하고 있습니다.

A senior U.S. diplomat, Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte, has met with top Indian diplomatic and security officials to discuss ways to improve India's intelligence agencies, in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks.
Negroponte issued a statement today (Friday)after a series of meetings in New Delhi with India's Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon and National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan.
Negroponte said their current focus is to thoroughly investigate the terror attacks in India's financial capital and to bring those responsible to justice. He said all diplomatic partners have a responsibility to contribute to that effort.
The U.S. diplomat met with senior Pakistani civilian and military leaders in Islamabad on Thursday. India has blamed the Pakistani militant group Lashkar-e-Taibafor the attacks.
In a brief statement today, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Mahmood Qureshi said Islamabad has complied with requests by the United Nations sanctions committee to take action against certain groups.
Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani told Negroponte on Thursday that Pakistan will fulfill its "international obligations" by dismantling a well-known Islamic charity, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba.
