터키의 수도 이스탄불에서 어제 발생한 두 건의 폭탄 테러로 인한 사망자 수가 17명으로 늘었다고 터키 당국이 밝혔습니다.
어제 폭탄 테러는 이스탄불 서부 주거지역에 있는 상가에서 발생했으며, 부상자도 1백50명 이상 발생했습니다.
터키 당국에 따르면, 첫 번째 폭탄이 공중전화 상자에서 작은 폭발을 일으켜 사람들이 몰려든 뒤, 더 강력한 두 번째 폭탄이 터졌습니다.
현재까지 이번 폭탄 테러를 저질렀다고 나서는 단체는 없으나, 터키 신문들은 경찰이 쿠르드 족 반군이 연루됐을 것으로 의심하고 있다고 보도했습니다.

Turkish authorities say the death toll in Sunday's double bombing in
Istanbul has risen to 17.
More than 150 people were wounded in the attack, which occurred on a shopping street in a residential district (Gungoren) of western Istanbul.
Officials say the first bomb caused a small blast in a telephone booth, drawing
a crowd to the site before the second and more powerful device exploded. Both
bombs were placed in trash cans.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but local newspapers say
police suspect Kurdish rebels are involved.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul condemned the attack and described its perpetrators
as ruthless and savage terrorists.
Several groups have carried out bomb attacks in Istanbul in the past, including
Kurdish separatists, far-left activists and Islamists.
