우크라이나 서부 루마니아와의 접경 부근에서 당국자들은 100년 만의 최악의 홍수 사태로 적어도 13명이 숨졌다고 밝혔습니다. 루마니아에서는 4명이 숨진 것으로 알려졌습니다.
우크라이나 비상대책부는 희생자 가운데 5명은 여러 강들의 강둑이 터지면서 불어난 물에 휩쓸려간 아이들이었다고 말했습니다.
당국자들은 이 접경 부근에서 홍수로 2만여채의 가옥이 휩쓸려간 뒤 7천여명의 주민들을 대피시켰습니다.
우크라이나의 빅토르 유시첸코 대통령은 27일 피해 상황을 평가하기 위해 27일 서부 지역에 도착했으며 율리아 티모센코 총리 역시 피해 지역을 둘러보고 있습니다.

Ukraine's Emergencies Ministry says five of the victims were children swept away by floodwaters when several rivers burst their banks.
Authorities evacuated about seven thousand people after floods swept through more than 20 thousand homes near the border.
President Viktor Yushchenko arrived in western Ukraine today (Sunday) to assess the damage, and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko also is touring the territory.
