미국의 민주당 대선 후보로 확실시 되고 있는 버락 오바마 상원 의원이 아프가니스탄 첫 방문을 모두 마쳤습니다.
오바마 의원은 20일 아프가니스탄을 방문하는 동안 수도 카불에 있는 대통령 궁에서 하미드 카르자이 그 나라 대통령과 만나 테러리즘에 맞서 싸우기 위한 방안을 논의했습니다.
카르자이 대통령 대변인은 오바마 의원이 아프가니스탄을 위한 지원과 테러리즘에 맞서 싸우기 위한 자신의 공약을 전달했다고 말했습니다.
오바마 의원은 20일 방영된 CBS 시사프로그램에서 아프가니스탄의 현 상황은 위태롭고도 시급한 것이라고 지적했습니다. 오바마 의원은 이라크 전쟁으로 테러분자 오사마 빈 라덴에 대한 색출작업에 집중하지 못한 것이 미국으로서는 일종의 전략적인 실수였다면서 아프가니스탄은 테러 퇴치 노력을 위한 중심이 돼야한다고 강조했습니다.

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has wrapped up his first trip to Afghanistan, where he and Afghan leader Hamid Karzai discussed the fight against terrorism.
The men met Sunday at the presidential palace in Kabul. President Karzai's spokesman (Homayoon Hamedzada) says Obama conveyed his commitment to Afghanistan and to the fight against terrorism.
In a U.S. television program (CBS' "Face the Nation") broadcast Sunday, Obama said the situation in Afghanistan is "precarious and urgent." He said it was a strategic error for the U.S. to get distracted from the hunt for Osama bin Laden by the war in Iraq. He said Afghanistan should be the focus of anti-terrorism efforts.
Obama also said the U.S. needs to take a regional approach to Afghanistan, by pressing the Pakistani government to remove militant training camps on its territory near Afghanistan.
