Russia and Egypt have signed a deal allowing Russia to bid on contracts to build nuclear power plants in Egypt.
Energy officials from both nations signed the agreement today (Tuesday) at the country residence of outgoing Russian President Vladimir Putin near Moscow.
Egypt is planning to build its first nuclear power plant. Russia has been building nuclear reactors in several countries, and hopes to further expand the industry.
The agreement came as Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak met with Mr. Putin and his successor, Dmitri Medvedev, for talks aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.
