이라크를 방문중인 마무드 아마디네자드 이란 대통령은 자신의 이라크 방문은 과거 적대적이었던 양국간의 관계에 새로운 장을 여는 것이라고 말했습니다.
아마디네자드 이란 대통령은 2일 바그다드에 도착한 후 곧바로 자랄 탈라바니 이라크 대통령과 회담을 가졌습니다.
회담후 가진 공동 기자회견에서 아마디네자드 이란 대통령은 두 사람의 대화가 매우 긍정적이었다고 말했습니다.
아마디네자드 대통령은 또 두정상은 여러가지 현안들에 이해를 같이하고 있으며, 양국이 정치, 경제, 문화관계를 강화하기로 결정했다고 말했습니다.
한편 자랄 탈라바니 이라크 대통령은 이라크는 이란의 집권 성직자들에 반대한 무장단체 무자헤딘을 추방하기 위해 노력하고 있다고 말했습니다.
탈라바니 대통령은 무자헤딘을 테러 단체로 표현하며 무자헤딘이 이라크에 있는 것은 위헌이라고 말했습니다.
아마디네자드 대통령은 또한 바그다드 시내 그린존에서 누리 알-말리키 총리와도 만났습니다. 말리키 총리는 이란대통령에게 이라크 정부는 이라크에서 활동하는 모든 테러 단체들을 몰아내기 위해 노력할 것이라고 말했습니다.
말리키 총리는 이들 테러 단체들 가운데는 알-카에다와 반 이란 군사 조직인 무자헤딘 그리고 터키를 공격하는 쿠르드 반군등이 포함된다고 덧붙였습니다.
이란 대통령이 이라크를 방문한 것은 지난 1979년 이후 처음입니다.

Visiting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says his trip to Iraq has opened a new chapter in relations between the two former enemies.
After his arrival in Baghdad today (Sunday), Mr. Ahmadinejad was taken directly to a meeting with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.
At a joint news conference after the meeting, the Iranian leader said the talks were very positive. He said the two leaders had a mutual understanding of things, and were determined to strengthen political, economic and cultural ties.
Mr. Ahmadinejad said a developed, powerful and united Iraq is to the advantage of everyone.
President Talabani said Iraq is trying to expel the Mojahedin-e Khalq - or People's Mojahedin - a militant group opposed to Iran's ruling clerics. Mr. Talabani called the group terrorists, and said their presence in Iraq is unconstitutional.
Mr. Ahmadinejad also met Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone. Mr. Maliki told his guest that Iraq will try to expel all terrorist groups operating in the country.
The Iraqi prime minister says these groups include al-Qaida, Iranian rebel group People's Mojahedin (Mojahedin-e Khalq) and Kurdish rebels who attack Turkey.
