한편 당국자들은 서부 케냐의 리프트 벨리 지역에서도 부족간 폭력 사태가 발생해 지난 18일 이후 적어도 8명이 사망했다고 전했습니다.
케냐에서는 오딩가의 지지자들이 지난 달의 부정 선거에 반대하는 일련의 새로운 항의 시위를 시작했던 지난 16일 이후 적어도 34명이 사망했습니다.

Witnesses in Kenya say several more people have been killed in ethnic clashes triggered by the disputed re-election of President Mwai Kibaki.
Police and residents in the capital, Nairobi, say four people were beaten and hacked to death with machetes in the capital's Mathare slum area today (Sunday). The fighting involved youths from the Kikuyu tribe of President Kibaki and the Luo tribe of opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Meanwhile, authorities say tribal violence in (the Kipkelion area of) western Kenya's Rift Valley province has killed at least eight people since Friday.
Election-related violence has killed at least 34 people in Kenya since Wednesday, when Odinga's supporters began a new wave of protests against what they call the rigging of last month's vote.
Mr. Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement has called for more protests on Thursday.
