시리아가 미국 아나폴리스에서 열리는 중동평화 회의 참석 초청을 수락했습니다.
시리아 정부는 25일, 오는 27일부터 열리는 아나폴리스 중동평화 회의에 파이잘 메크다드 외무차관이 참석한다고 발표했습니다. 시리아 정부는 아랍연맹 회원국들이 모두 평화회의에 참여하기로 결정한 가운데도 이스라엘이 점령중인 골란 고원 문제가 의제로 포함되지 않으면 중동평화 회의에 참여하지 않겠다고 말해왔습니다.
그러나 시리아는 이스라엘-시리아간 평화과정이 포함된 의제 사본을 접수한뒤 평화회의 참여를 결정했다고 시리아 외교관들이 말한 것으로 로이터 통신이 전했습니다.
미국과 이스라엘은 시리아의 평화회의 참여를 환영한다고 말했습니다.

Syria has accepted a U.S. invitation to attend this week's Mideast peace conference in the city of Annapolis, ending the uncertainty about whether Damascus would participate.
Syria's government said today (Sunday) that it is sending Deputy Foreign Minister Faysal Mekdad to Tuesday's conference.
Damascus had made its participation conditional on the talks including its demand for a return of the Golan Heights, captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war.
The Reuters news agency quotes Syrian diplomats as saying the government decided to attend after receiving a copy of the agenda that includes the Israel-Syrian peace track.
The U.S. and Israeli governments have said they would welcome Syria's involvement in the conference. Washington has been seeking broad Arab support for its efforts to solve the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
