민주화 지도자 아웅산 수지 여사의 민족민주동맹은 이날, 정부가 민주화시위 진압때 구금했던 약 70여명의 민주화 인사들을 석방했다고 밝혔습니다.
민족민주동맹은 지난 25일 양곤의 인세인 교도소에서 석방된 민주화 인사들 중에는 50명의 당원도 들어있다고 말했습니다.
이에 앞서 유엔의 이브라힘 감바리 버마 특사는 아웅산 수지 여사와 최근에 임명된 아웅 키 노동장관의 회담이 양측의 대화 재개로 이어지기를 희망한다고 말했습니다.

Burmese riot police have taken up positions at holy sites in Rangoon to prevent Buddhist monks from repeating last month's widespread protests against the military government.
Heavily armed forces guarded the Shwedagon and Sule pagodas on an important Buddhist holiday today (Friday), when monks end a period of monastic retreat.
Also today, the party of pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi said the government has released at least 70 more people detained in the military's violent crackdown on protesters.
The National League for Democracy said 50 party members were among those released from Insein prison in Rangoon on Thursday.
Earlier today, United Nations envoy to Burma Ibrahim Gambari said he hopes the meeting between Aung San Suu Kyi and a newly appointed government official will lead to the resumption of dialogue between the two sides.
