중국 동부 지역에 태풍 세팟이 강타해 적어도 16명이 목숨을 잃었다고 중국 당국자들이 밝혔습니다. 이 태풍은 본토로 상륙하면서 점차 약화됐습니다.
태풍 세팟은 19일 일찍 푸젠성을 지나 중국 본토에 상륙했습니다. 푸젠성에서는 폭우로 인한 산사태로 2명이 사망하고 한명이 실종됐다고 중국 관영 신화 통신은 보도했습니다. 훨씬 남쪽의 저장성에서는 이 태풍으로 가옥한 채가 붕괴되고 남자 한 명이 사망했습니다.
중국에서 현지발 보도들은 태풍 세팟으로 수백채의 가옥과 건물들이 파괴되고 수천 헥타아르의 농작물이 황폐화됐으며 푸젠성에서부터 저장성에 이르기 까지 여러 지역들에서 정전 사태를 불러일으켰다고 전했습니다.

Chinese authorities say Typhoon Sepat killed at least 16 people in eastern China before it weakened into a tropical storm.
The storm reached the Chinese mainland early today (Sunday) over Fujian province, where the official Xinhua news agency says heavy rain caused a landslide that killed two people and left one missing. Further south in Zhejiang, a house collapsed in the storm and killed a man.
The storm spawned a tornado Saturday that killed 13 people in the city of Wenzhou in Zhejiang.
Local news reports in China say the typhoon destroyed hundreds of houses and other buildings, ruined thousands of hectares of crops, and cut power in areas from Fujian to Zhejiang.
