북핵문제 해결을 위한 6자회담의 북한 대표단이 22일, 베이징에서 열린 이틀 일정의 회의가 공식 종료되지 않은 가운데 귀국했습니다.
북한의 6자회담 수석대표, 김계관 외무부상은 베이징에서 속개된 6자회담 이틀째부터 마카우 소재 방코 델타 아시아 은행의 동결해제된 북한 자금 2천5백만 달러가 베이징의 다른 은행 북한 계좌로 송금될때까지 회의에 참석하지 않겠다고 밝힌 이래 이틀 동안 회의에 불참한 끝에 북한 대표단 일행과 함께 귀국했습니다.
동결 해제된 북한 자금은 국영 중국은행에 개설돼 있는 북한 계좌에 이전될 것으로 예상됐었으나 해당 중국 은행은 22일, 북한 자금취급에 관한 요청조차 없었다고 말했습니다.
한편, 중국 관계관들은 해당 중국은행과의 협의가 진행중이라고 밝히고 중국은행은 아직도 북한 자금 문제를 해결하려고 노력하고 있다고 말했습니다.
중국은행 관계자들은 이 은행이 증권시장에 상장된 은행이기 때문에 불법거래에 관여할 수가 없다고 말했습니다. 6자회담 당사국들은 다음에 회의를 다시 갖기로 합의했으나 일정은 발표되지 않았습니다.

A dispute over frozen funds has again stalled the progress of six-party talks over North Korea's nuclear disarmament.
North Korean delegates left Beijing today (Thursday) before the talks ended, and just as the funds issue was becoming increasingly complicated.
North Korea's envoy Kim Kye Kwan refused to participate in nuclear talks this week until 25 million dollars in funds, frozen at a bank in Macau, were returned to North Korea.
The funds were frozen in 2005 after Washington accused Macau's Banco Delta Asia of helping North Korea launder money and commit other illicit activities.
Earlier this week, U.S. officials said the funds would be released. It was originally expected the funds would be transferred to a North Korean account at the state-run Bank of China. But today, officials at that bank denied they had even been asked to handle the funds.
Chinese officials on the other hand, say a discussion with the bank is ongoing and noted that they were still trying to resolve its (the Bank of China's) concerns.
Bank of China officials note that since the bank is a listed company it must abide by the law and cannot be involved in any illegal business.
