지구온난화를 초래하는 것으로 지적되고 있는 대기중 온실가스가 지난 해에 최고 수준에 달했다고 유엔 세계기상기구,WMO가 밝혔습니다.
WMO는 3일 발표한 보고서에서 2005년에 지구 대기중 온실가스인 이산화탄소와 일산화질소가 이를 측정한 이래 최고수준에 달한 것으로 나타났으며 올해엔 더 높은 수준에 이를 것으로 예상된다고 말했습니다.
이 보다 앞서 이번 주에 발표된 영국의 기후변화 보고서는 온실가스 방출 등에 따른 인공적 기후변화를 방치하면 지구온난화가 세계대전과 대공황 때의 규모에 맞먹는 세계경제의 참담한이 초래될 수도 있다고 경고한 바 있습니다. 영국의 기후변화 보고서는 또 지구온난화가 방치되면 지구의 기온이 다음 1세기 동안에 섭씨 5 이상 높아져 대규모 홍수와 극심한 가뭄이 일어나고 2억 인구가 절멸상태에 빠지게 될 것이라고 경고했습니다.

The United Nations says greenhouse gases linked to global warming reached their highest levels ever recorded in 2005.
In a report released today (Friday), the World Meteorological Organization says global average concentrations of carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide hit record levels and are expected to rise even further this year.
Scientists say that carbon dioxide and other gases mostly produced from human activity heat the atmosphere and lead to global warming.
A British report released earlier this week warned that global warming could devastate the world economy on the scale of the world wars and the Great Depression.
The environmental study warned that unchecked climate change could push global temperatures upward of five degrees Celsius in the next century. It said such a rise would cause severe flooding, harsh droughts and uproot as many as 200 million people around the globe.
