북한 신포의 경수원자로 핵발전소 건설현장에 남아 있던 국제요원 57명이 철수해 8일, 남한에 돌아왔다고 남한 관계관들이 밝혔습니다.
철수한 북한 핵발전소 건설현장 국제요원들은 미국-북한간 1994년 기본핵합의에 따라 북한에 2기의 경수원자로 발전소를 건설해주기 위한 한반도에너지개발기구, 케도소속으로 북한이 비밀 핵무기 계획을 진행시키고 있다는 미국의 주장으로 케도 사업이 3년 동안 중단된 끝에 마지막 요원들이 철수한 것입니다.
남한은 케도요원의 이번 철수로 북한 경수원자로 발전소 건설사업의 최종적인 중단을 의미한다고 말했습니다.

South Korean officials say all 57 remaining officials of an international light-water nuclear reactor project in North Korea pulled out of the country today (Sunday) and returned to South Korea.
An official in Seoul says the group was the last to leave the site in Sinpo, in northeastern North Korea.
Under a 1994 agreement between the North and the United States on freezing Pyongyang's nuclear weapons programs, an international consortium known as the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization (KEDO), worked to build two light-water reactors incapable of producing weapons grade plutonium.
The KEDO program was suspended three years ago after U.S. officials accused North Korea of running a secret nuclear program in violation of the deal.
