인도는 카쉬미르 내 자국민들이 파키스탄 지역에 들어가 지진 피해 복구를 지원하는 것을 허용한 페르베스 무샤라프 파키스탄 대통령의 제안을 환영했습니다.
인도 외무부는 18일 발표한 성명에서 이번 제안은 카쉬미르 지역에서의 구호사업과 보다 긴밀한 대민접촉을 바라는 인도 정부의 방침과 일치한다고 말했습니다.
앞서 인도는 파키스탄에 추가로 지원품을 보내면서 카쉬미르인들이 파키스탄을 직접 방문할 수 있도록 2주 동안 제한 조처를 해제했습니다.
한편 유엔 세계식량계획은 파키스탄 내 지진 피해자 가운데 거의 50만명이 아직 구호물품을 받지 못하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.

India has welcomed Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's offer to open up the Line of Control, allowing Indian Kashmiris to cross into Pakistan's portion destroyed by the October eighth earthquake and assist in reconstruction efforts.
The Foreign Ministry in New Delhi issued a statement (Tuesday) saying this is in line with India's advocacy of greater movement across the divided region for relief work and closer people-to-people contacts.
Earlier, India sent more relief aid to Pakistan and lifted restrictions on Indian Kashmiris for two weeks to allow them to call Pakistan directly. New Delhi took away the privilege in 1990 because of the Islamic insurgency in Indian Kashmir, alleging that it is run from Pakistan, a charge denied by Islamabad.
Meanwhile, the United Nations World Food Program says almost half-a-million earthquake survivors in Pakistan have yet to receive relief supplies.
The U.N. statement came as President Musharraf appealed to the international community for more tents to shelter the homeless.
