인도네시아 휴양지 발리 섬 경찰 당국은 1일 밤에 벌어진 자살폭탄 공격에 따른 사망자 수를 당초 발표했던 26명 보다 적은 19명으로 수정발표했습니다.
발리 섬 마데 암쿠 파스티카 경찰서장은 이번 폭발이 자살폭탄 공격범들의 소행이라고 밝히고 세 곳의 폭발현장에서 자살폭탄 공격범들의 사체 일부를 경찰이 찾아냈다면서 사망자 수를 수정했습니다.
이 자살폭탄 공격으로 한국인, 호주인, 일본인, 미국인 등 외국인들과 인도네시아인 100 여명이 부상했습니다. 인도네시아 테러리즘 대책 담당관들은 국제 테러리스트 조직, 알-카이다와 연계된 회교도 과격단체, 제마 이슬라미야가 이번 폭탄테러의 배후에 있는 것으로 본다고 말하고 있습니다.
제마 이슬라미야는 지난 2002년 202명의 사망자를 냈던 발리섬 나이트 클럽에 대한 대규모 폭탄테러 공격을 조종한 것으로 혐의를 받고 있습니다. 이번 폭탄 공격이 자신들의 소행이라고 자처하고 나선 측은 아직 없습니다.
한편 전세계 지도자와 외교관들은 인도네시아 휴양지 발리에서 발생한 자살 폭탄 공격을 규탄했습니다.
콘돌리자 라이스 미국 국무장관은 이번 공격을 비난하고 미국은 공격자들을 정의에 심판대에 세우기 위해서 노력하고 있는 인도네시아를 지지한다고 말했습니다.
영국의 토니 블레어 총리는 영국 정부가 가능한 어떤 방법으로든 인도네시아를 도울 태세로 있다고 말했으며 존 하워드 호주 총리는 공격자들이 온건 성향의 인도네시아 정부를 위태롭게 하려하고 있다고 비판했습니다.
유엔 대변인은 코피 아난 유엔 사무총장이 발리가 또 다시 공격 대상이 된데 당혹해 하고 있으며 당국에 이른바 비겁한 공격을 자행한 공격자들을 조속히 체포하도록 촉구했다고 말했습니다.
일본과 필리핀, 뉴질랜드, 싱가포르, 독일, 프랑스 등 전세계 각국 역시 이번 공격을 규탄했습니다.

Bali's police chief says three suicide bombers killed at least 19 people and wounded 100 others in Saturday's attacks on the popular resort island.
The chief (Made Mangku Pastika) says police found parts of the bombers' bodies at the three blast sites. Earlier reports said a total of 26 people died in the bombings.
Indonesian terrorism officials say they believe al-Qaida linked Jemaah Islamiah is behind the attack. The officials are searching for at least two Malaysian members of the group who are also suspected of masterminding the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people.
There has been no claim of responsibility.
The latest explosions took place nearly simultaneously late Saturday at two restaurants on Jimbaran beach and another in the shopping district of Kuta -- the site of the 2002 nightclub bombings.
The dead include Indonesians and at least one Australian and one Japanese. Indonesians, South Koreans, Australians, Japanese and Americans are among the injured.
World leaders and diplomats are uniting to condemn Saturday's deadly suicide bombings on the Indonesian resort island of Bali.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice denounced the attacks and said the United States stands with Indonesia as it works to bring the perpetrators to justice.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair says his government is ready to help in any way possible, while Australian Prime Minister John Howard accused the attackers of trying to undermine Indonesia's moderate government.
A U.N. spokesman says Secretary-General Kofi Annan is "dismayed" that Bali is again the scene of an attack, and he urged authorities to promptly bring the perpetrators of what he called a "cowardly attack" to justice.
Leaders of Japan, the Philippines, New Zealand, Singapore, Germany, France and other nations around the globe have also condemned the attacks.
