파키스탄은 핵탄두와 재래식 탄두를 장착할 수 있는 최초의 지상발사용 크루즈 미사일 시험발사에 성공했습니다.
파키스탄 군당국 관계관들은 저공비행 크루즈 미사일, ‘바부르’호의 시험발사가 11일, 성공적으로 실시됐다고 말했으나 시험발사 장소는 밝히지 않고 있습니다.
파키스탄의 페르베스 무샤라프 대통령은 사정거리가 약 5백 킬로미터인 크루즈 미사일, ‘바부르’호가 사정거리 2백90 킬로미터인 인도의 순항 미사일, ‘브라모스’호보다 우수하다고 말했습니다.
무샤라프 대통령은 인도가 미국으로부터 패트리옷 미사일 체제 등 첨단 무기기술을 획득하더라도 파키스탄은 인도의 재래식 무기경쟁에서 균형을 유지해 나갈 것이라고 다짐하고 있습니다.
파키스탄 관계관들은 인도와 파키스탄간의 미사일 시험 사전통보 협약에 크루즈 미사일은 포함돼 있지 않기 때문에 이번 미사일 시험발사에 관해 인도에 사전통보하지 않았다고 말했습니다.

Pakistan has test-fired its first ground-launched cruise missile capable of carrying both nuclear and conventional warheads.
The Pakistani military says the low-flying missile named Babur, which has a range of about 500 kilometers, was successfully tested today (Thursday). It did not say where the test was conducted.
President Pervez Musharraf said the Babur missile is superior to neighboring India's Bramos cruise missile, which has a range of 290 kilometers. He vowed to maintain a military balance with rival India in both
conventional and unconventional fields, even if India acquires high-technology U.S. weapons like the Patriot missile system.
Pakistani officials say India was not informed in advance about today's test-firing because the recent agreement between them does not cover cruise missiles.
There was no immediate reaction from India, which routinely conducts its own missile tests.
