The phrase ‘hands down’ means ‘unquestionably, very easily’. So basically if someone wins somebody very easily, we can say that he or she won ‘hands down’. ‘Hands down’ is derived from horse racing. If a jockey found himself far ahead of the competition, the rider might choose to relax his hold and lower his hands, being confident that victory was only a few gallops away. Now we’ll listen to this conversation for the last time.
