Israeli and Palestinian leaders are holding separate meetings today (Thursday) to discuss the consequences of Yasser Arafat's ailing health.
Israel is making contingency plans for after Mr. Arafat's death, including how it will deal with Palestinian desires to bury him at a holy site in Jerusalem. Israel's prime minister has said he will not allow the longtime Palestinian leader to be buried in the city.
Senior Palestinian officials are also holding an emergency meeting today in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
Mr. Arafat has not named a successor and there are fears his death could spark a power struggle among the Palestinian leadership.
