인도 동부 지역에서 조류독감이 발생했습니다.
인도 서부 벵갈주 정부 관계자들은 실리구리 지역의 닭에서 조류독감 바이러스인 H5N1 바이러스가 검출됐다고 밝혔습니다.
인도 정부관계자는 조류독감이 발생한 실리구리 지역의 닭, 약 6만 마리를 도살하기 위해 보건관계자들을 이 지역에 급파했다고 밝혔습니다.
인도에서는 2008년, 서부 벵갈주와 인접한 아삼주에서 조류독감이 발생한 바 있습니다. 하지만 인도정부는 이번에 발생한 조류독감이 인체에 전염되지는 않았다고 말했습니다.
한편 세계보건기구는 5년 전에 아시아에서 조류독감이 발생한 이후 세계적으로 지금까지 모두 247명이 사망했다고 밝히고 있습니다.

Authorities have detected a fresh outbreak of the bird flu among poultry in eastern India.
Officials in the state of West Bengal said chickens near the town of Siliguri have been infected with the H5N1 virus.
A local government official (Surendra Gupta) says 30 teams have been sent to the area today (Sunday) to begin slaughtering more than 60-thousand birds.
Last year, the virus was detected in several districts of West Bengal and in the neighboring eastern state of Assam.
India has reported no human infections of the bird flu.
The World Health Organization says bird flu has killed 247 people worldwide since it resurfaced in Asia five years ago.
