8백 명의 선원이 탄 중국 구축함 2척함과 보급함은 26일 하이난성 항구에서 소말리아로 출발했습니다. 이들은 아덴만과 인도양에서 해적 활동에 대비한 순찰과 민간 선박 보호 임무를 수행합니다.
한편 케냐 정부는 중국을 비롯한 참가국들이 자국 선박 뿐 아니라 다른 나라의 선박도 보호해야 한다고 촉구했습니다.
소말리아 해적들은 올해 40척의 선박을 납치했으며, 최소한 15척의 선박과 해당 선원을 억류하고 있습니다.

Three Chinese naval ships are on their way to the Gulf of Aden to join an international fleet fighting piracy in the waters off Somalia.
Two destroyers and a supply ship departed today (Friday) from their home port on the southern island of Hainan. The vessels are carrying at least 800 sailors, including dozens of special forces personnel. They are charged with patrolling the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean to protect cargo ships from pirate attacks.
A Kenyan shipping director today implored China and other countries to use their warships to protect all the vessels in the area -- instead of protecting only ships from their own countries.
Somali pirates have hijacked more than 40 ships in 2008 and are holding at least 15 vessels and their crews hostage.
